WHAT CAN YOU IN LESVOS?
A great place to start your tour is Mytilene. This vibrant student town has interesting architecture from various periods, in addition to great restaurants, cafés, lively nightlife, interesting shops and museums. The city leads up into the hills of pine trees, atop of which is the huge fortress – an enormous castle built by the Byzantines, but with stones that date back to a far earlier period. During the summer the castle is used for concerts and plays, but whatever time of the year you visit this is a great place to look around. And while you're there you can have a look at the Hellenistic Ancient Theatre of Mytilene.
Lesvos' second largest fortress is located in Molyvos, and, likewise, sits like a crown on the hilltop looking over the town. This Byzantine castle, supposed built on an older structure, is mentioned in both the Iliad and Odyssey. When approaching this culturally fascinating town, be sure to pull over at the provided spot to take in the great view of Molyvos; it's a real photo opportunity. Molyvos has a lot of tourist activities on offer, but equally offers an opportunity for some cultural enlightenment, provided in no small way by the interesting people you'll meet around town. If you are looking for archaeological spots, there are a few, with many new excavations taking place. It is believed that Molyvos has been in existence since around 1000BC. This is a wonderful area to explore, to eat, drink and shop. A worthy place to spend some time.

With its calm waters this is a great place to swim and the beach has a shower to rinse off when you're done.
